The early summer is an excellent time to pop out the pheromone lures and see what Clearwings are around. These day flying moths are tricky to find and observe without the lure but an hour or two with the pheromone out and often one is attracted - I tend to limit my trapping to once a season in the garden, just to confirm presence and absence.
