One day like this a year will see me right

What a beautiful morning, dawn broke clear and sharp on the Washes.  Ice crunch of frost under foot and cold scalding on the ears.  Bugling wild swan and whistling Wigeon all around.  I did birdwatch but everything I watched this morning was in the context of the greater scene, the vast canvas of the floods and the light playing across them.
